Creekside Entertainment Bandits Take Center Stage Friday Night

Friday night will be a big night as the youth division at the speedway takes their turn in the spotlight.  The Creekside Entertainment Bandit division will race five extra laps on Friday night, in a special 15-lap event.

These young men and ladies will have the opportunity to step out of their 4 cylinder cars for driver introductions- a great opportunity for the fans to meet these talented drivers underneath the helmets.  Each and every week, this division shows the talent that is ready to grace the weekly adult divisions racing at the ‘Fast Four-Tenths-Mile’ in years to come.

The Black Rock Bandits were born in the late 90’s- the brainchild of then-owner and promoter Lin and Cindy Hough.  Prior to the 1998 season, the earliest a young pilot could turn laps at ‘The Rock’ was at age 16.  The decision by the Houghs and the track insurance provider was monumental in the development of future dirt stars.

Drivers like Alex Hoag, multi-time Super DIRTcar Series champion Matt Sheppard, former Sportsman champions Brady Fultz and Donnie Lawson & Canandaigua and Grit Racing Series competitor Frank Guererri Jr are all successful graduates of the Bandit division.

Young, aspiring dirt drivers age 12-16 are allowed to compete in the division using vehicles following the 4 Cylinder division rules.  In fact, the speedway encourages adult drivers and Bandit drivers to team up using the same car for both divisions.  The Creekside Entertainment Bandits have more than doubled in size since opening night and will look to grow even larger in 2016.

“The Bandit division highlights the next generation of dirt drivers and are the future of the speedway,” said first-year Promoter Mike Jackson.

“This division has always been a priority to Black Rock Speedway and will continue to be with our team.  The drivers in the Bandit division show that the future of the speedway is bright.”

Jackson has teamed up with Bandit division sponsor Creekside Entertainment to hold a special event for the Bandit drivers at the speedway on Friday August 14th, 2015.  A special race format and pre-race introductions will kick off that night’s activities as the Bandits do each and every Friday night. The division sponsor will also have a special presentation for each driver for supporting the division in 2015.

“What Mike is doing with the speedway and supporting the Bandit division is great and we look forward to continue our support for years to come,” said Stewart Ovens, owner of Creekside Entertainment.

The special event for the Bandits will add to a weekly racing program consisting of Modifieds, Crate Sportsman, M&M Auto Sales IMCA Modifieds, MRC Street Stocks and NAPA Know How 4 Cylinders.

General admission for this great show is just $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $10 for ages 12-17 with children under 12 always being free of charge at Black Rock Speedway.  Pit gates swing open at 4PM, grandstands open at 5PM with Scott Hixson’s green flag waving for the first time at 7PM sharp.
