Guererri Heating Up As MRC Street Stock Chase Rolls Into Summer

DUNDEE, NY – For Immediate Release – July 17th, 2015 – Curtis Berleue photo –

As summer heats up and rolls on, so has the action on the racetrack at Black Rock Speedway.  We are now past Mid-Season Championships and the stretch run for track championships and the fall season of big money races is quickly approaching.

One driver in particular that has been turning up the wick as Summer has come into full swing is Morseman Racing Chassis Street Stock competitor CJ Guererri.  Guererri, aboard the Guererri Service, Damick Painting, Fisher Tree Service CJ1 ride has been clawing his way to Street Stock glory.

A season after putting controversy at Canandaigua behind them, the Guererri team has been red hot since the beginning of May.  Since May 8th the CJ1 has not finished outside the top ten in the nightly rundown.  Six top five finishes has elevated them to second in points- just 24 points behind division point leader Jared Hill.

“The season has been beyond fantastic for me and our great team,” said Guererri.

“We have been working really hard and trying our best to correct our mistakes on and off the track.”

If you polled 100 drivers about whether they would rather be hunting the top spot or be the one being hunted for Street Stock supremacy, you would surely get a result close to 50/50.  For Guererri though, he would much rather be leading during the summer stretch run to the championship.

“I’d much rather be leading in points but we’re going to keep plugging away and try our hardest to pull off the win.  Either way we are hoping for a top five points finish and finish every race.”

With the speed the CJ1 has shown since May, it’s hard to believe that the Geneva, NY pilot hasn’t graced Champion Power Equipment Victory Lane.  That could all change very soon though, as a 9th place finish on July 3rd should help Guererri in the handicap to get a little better starting position in the 20-lap feature tonight.

When you compare Guererri and Hill’s stats, they are staggering.  Hill has the advantage in the win column (2) and top fives (9) but both drivers have only finished outside the top ten once in 2015.  With a 2-race deficit in wins and top fives it’s even more impressive to see what the Guererri team has done to find themselves 2nd in points.

“We’re all stoked with how well we have done this season so we will be happy either way.”

General admission for tonight’s 6 Feature card is just $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $10 for ages 12-17 and children under 12 are always free at Black Rock Speedway.  The weekly racing program will consist of Modifieds, Crate Sportsman, M&M Auto Sales IMCA Modifieds, MRC Street Stocks, NAPA Know How 4 Cylinders and Creekside Entertainment Bandits.

Pit gates swing open at 4PM, grandstands open at 5PM with Scott Hixson’s green flag waving for the first time at 7PM sharp.
