Jeff Searles Memorial Race Night Sponsored By Douglas B. Miles Agency, Inc Scheduled For Friday June 19th
DUNDEE, NY – February 25th, 2015 – For Immediate Release
The racing community in the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier lost a great friend in motorsports during this offseason. On November 26th, local race enthusiast Jeff ‘Jeffy’ Searles passed away after a courageous battle with Leukemia over the past year. Jeff was also born with Downs Syndrome however the Himrod, NY race fan thrived in his role at the A.R.C of Yates and enjoyed other church activities. But Jeff’s one true love was anything that went fast on a racetrack.
Many race fans that have frequented the Black Rock Speedway, Woodhull Raceway or Little Valley Speedway have come to know Jeff at some point in time. Some have even met Jeff, not knowing his name or where he hailed from. But what everyone can tell you is this- the young man in the Turn 2 pit grandstands at Black Rock, the pit grandstands at Woodhull Raceway and Turn 3 at Little Valley loved being at the track.
Jeff’s trademark no matter what racetrack he attended was his rag that he proudly waved while there were cars on the track. Jeff would wave cars by under green to go faster and wave a car under yellow if they weren’t nose to nose for the restart. His passion and love of auto racing was infectious.
It is for Jeff’s passion of the sport that Black Rock Speedway and the Douglas B. Miles Agency, Inc of Dundee, NY have teamed up to honor his memory on Friday night June 19th, 2015. This night will be known as the Jeff Searles Memorial Race Night sponsored by Douglas B. Miles Agency, Inc. For Furman Kendall, putting on a memorial night for Jeff Searles was something that they felt necessary to honor the memory of one of auto racing’s biggest fans.
“Jeff was an avid race fan and everyone got to know him no matter what track you attended. This is a great way for us to remember our friend and a true race fan,” said Kendall on behalf of the Douglas B. Miles Agency.
“Mike and I are looking forward to paying tribute to the young man whose enthusiasm for racing was immeasurable. He is a fan that will be greatly missed by many,” said Sue Foster from Black Rock Speedway.
