Open Practice Is A Resounding Success!

161 days. Five long months since the gates at Outlaw Speedway were last swung open. The last time that Outlaw Speedway had race cars on the track was October 21, 2023 for Night Two of the Hoag Memorial Weekend when Mike Maresca held off Danny Johnson and Stacey Jackson to win the prestigious race.

Open Practice in 2023 had to be called off due to inclement weather, but Mother Nature was kind to everyone on Saturday (March 30th) providing sunshine and 50 degree temps as the backdrop to race teams shaking down their rides, and race fans enjoying the sights, sounds, and fumes of dirt track racing.

While the day was wrapped around just hot laps, cars of all kinds came to 82 Main Street in Dundee including Modifieds, Sportsman, Street Stocks, Late Models, Hobby Stocks, 4 Cylinders, Vintage cars, and Sprints.

A great turnout of fans who took advantage of FREE admission, and concessions stands were abuzz with activity as Grandma Pat fed hungry race teams in the pits, and lunch was served behind the stands.

When the aformentioned Hoag Memorial checkered flag flew, the second that the last modified had cleared the racing surface, the Bossman Tyler Siri and his track crew were hard at work putting the popular 4/10 speedway to bed for the Winter. This combined with a new pump in turns 1 & 2 along with some farming by Dan "The Man" Harpell and others in the days leading up to Open Practice provided a phenomenal racing surface to open the 2024 racing season. Tyler Siri and the entire staff at Outlaw would like to thank racers, teams, and fans for coming out for Open Practice, and now turn their attention and efforts to lifting the lid on the EPIC 2024 season with the running of the Lucas Oil Nationals on April 5th, and 6th. The two day event is an awesome way to open the season with practice and dashes on Friday, and big money features on Saturday.
