Black Rock to Host Lucas Oil ASCS Patriot Opener on May 1

Dundee, NY - The May sprint show was one of the last additions to the 2009 Black Rock Speedway Schedule. It will now be run two weeks earlier and serve as the season opener for the Lucas Oil ASCS Patriot Region.

The Friday, May 1 event, that already had a Super 6 Racing Card along with the 2nd $1,000-to-win Enduro, will now include the fastest machines to grace the Yates County Powerplant.

Black Rock has already hosted the season opener for the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Tour, BRP CanAm Series, Xcel Chassis 600cc Mods and New York Modified Midgets, now the Patriot Sprints will be added to the list of those touring series that start their year in Dundee.

As it stands right now, BRS will also host the first and last event in the A-Verdi Storage Containers King of Central New York Series, which is a mini series within the Patriot Tour. That second event will be the highly touted $4,000-to-win Insinger Race Fules NY Nationals on Friday, August 7.

This is the second time the Yates County Oval will hold a Patriot Season Opener. The other occasion was on April 24, 2004, during the season in which the Patriots were part of the weekly Saturday Night Program.

Black Rock has hosted more A-Mains (22), than any other track in Patriot History. The next highest is Canandaigua with 10 A-Mains.

The invasion of the Patriots to Black Rock brings with it local regulars on the tour such as Robbie Shuttleworth from Geneva, Ray Preston from Romulus and Chris Muhleisen from Arkport. Others such as Lance Yonge from Penn Yan, Tim Kelly from Rock Stream and Bubby Kerrick from Stanley also figure to be on hand for the 2009 lid lifter.

Ticket prices for the general grandstand admission for May 1 and May 15 will be swapped. With all of the regular action, plus a ton of sprint cars on hand, this is sure to be affordable family fun.

The Patriot race will now also serve as the first race of the season to be shown on Hot Wings TV, showcasing the speedway and available throughout New York on Time Warner Cable SportsNet stations.
