Black Rock Speedway Adds New Event to Replace Rock Launcher
ALERT: With the track still a little soft in spots and a forecast calling for more rain Friday, Black Rock Speedway management has decided that it would be in everyone's best interest to cancel this weeks activities. Next up on the schedule will be the May 3rd show sponsored by Knappy's Auto Body. The 360 Sprints (PST) plus a full racing program - All championship points for all divisions will start on May 3rd.
Special Sunday July 28 Event to Feature All Weekly BRS Classes plus CRSA 305 Sprints
Rich Vleck, DUNDEE, NY, (April 18, 2013)- Mother Nature has slowed the start of racing season, at least at the Black Rock Speedway, where the first two events of the 2013 racing calendar have been effected. With the loss of the Friday’s Front Row event comes the announcement of a second Sunday afternoon race for this summer.
On Sunday afternoon, July 28, the Black Rock Speedway will be hosting the mid-summer version of the popular “Rock Launcher”. All of the weekly BRS classes will also be on the card running for full points, including the bandits, as will the CRSA 305 Sprints. With this announcement, the CRSA will no longer be part of the August 2, program. Due to time constraints, modifieds will not be included in this showcase.
The event will still be headlined with a major crate sportsman event paying $1,500-to-win. This event will become another American Racer Cup event for those registered at BRS. There are some slight changes, including that there will no longer be time trials and that the feature race will be 50 laps in length. The street stocks will run their second race of the year with extra laps awarding additional money thanks to Greg’s Auto Body. The IMCA Empire State Series will also be on the card for what is sure to be a competitive tour stop.
Race time for this special Sunday event is set for a 3:00 P.M. start for heat races. Hot Laps will start at approximately 2:00 P.M. With this announcement, the Rawhide Professional Rodeo, slated for Saturday, July 27, has been cancelled.
Even though the first two events have been lost to poor conditions, things appear to be ready for the big start on Friday May 3rd, when all weekly classes are joined by the Patriot Sprint Tour for their American Series opener. This will be the 10-year anniversary of the first Patriot race and should be a special night for sure.
