Black Rock Announces Busy 2011 Calendar

Great short track dirt racing competition will again be the main course at Black Rock Speedway in 2011, but along with it will be some unique and entertaining appetizers.

A 31-event schedule for Dundee, NY’s Black Rock Speedway has been announced featuring a little bit of everything.  Like in years past, BRS will be the first to swing its doors open with matinee mayhem early in April.  Following an open practice on Friday Night, the first races of the year start the Saturday, April 2 at 1:00 PM with a card that includes the mighty modifieds and the first of many appearances by the IMCA modifieds in 2011, with this show being the opener for the Empire State Series.

Weekly Friday Night Lights begins with the Rock Launcher on April 15th and carries on through September 2nd.  This year it will be a “Fab 5 Show” with the IMCA modifieds added to the card.  A major change this year is that anyone 16 years or younger will be admitted free with a paying adult!  Most events will also feature free monster truck rides around the speedway.

There will be a number of special Fridays, including NASCAR Night on August 12th when you never know who will attend and perhaps race in the $4,000-to-win Patriot Sprint Tour Event.  Other sprint car events include a special Saturday event on May 7 that will include the PST, URC and ESS for the first time since 2006.  The BRP CanAm Late Models and Original Pizza Logs 600 Sprint Tour will make their first tour stops of the year that evening.  The PST and ESS sprints will also collaborate on July 8 for a summer special.

The monster trucks return the first weekend of June with a pair of shows in Yates County.  The Saturday event will be the first of two “Wreckapalooza” nights with the second on Labor Day Weekend.

The $10,000 Fireworks Extravaganza will be on July 1 this year, kicking off a wild month that also includes tow nights of the Professional Rawhide Rodeo on July 29 and 30.  The following weekend, a pair of shows featuring the AMA National Vintage Motorcycles will keep things hot.

After Labor Day weekend, the Scottish Festival will take center stage the week after but then the track will go quiet until October 21 and 22 when it is Dutch Hoag’s National Open Weekend.  The modifieds make another return this weekend to join in with the highly acclaimed Street Stock World 100 and BRP CanAm Late Model Championship.

Once again this year, The Big One $10,000-to-win Enduro the first weekend of November will put an exclamation point on the season.  Along with it will be the first ever snowmobile demolition derby.  It is already time to start building cars for that event!

All are reminded that the schedule is subject to change, but you can be assured that the green flag on the season is less than a month away!  Complete details on the 2011 schedule are available at
