Lewis Sharpsteen Wins Bandit Feature Before Balance of Black Rock Show Lost to Rain

Rich Vleck, DUNDEE, NY (June 17, 2011)- For the first time since August of 2009, a regular season show at Black Rock Speedway was lost to rain.

Just after the bandit feature was completed, a small, slow-moving cell moved into Dundee, NY, soaking the racetrack.  Despite a valiant effort to work the track in, another cell popped up North of the track and was headed right towards the facility when the decision was made to cancel the remainder of the program.

Before the rain hit, Lewis Sharpteen lead from green to checkered for his second bandit feature win of the year.  The young wheelman of the “Flyin’ X” had to handle three restarts in which defending division champion Zach Teed was applying serious pressure.  Teed would hang on for second while Joey Giardina was a career-best third.

The speedway will lay silent next Friday in observation of Dundee Graduation.  Racing resumes July 1 with double points on the line plus a $10,000 firework show for Military Appreciation Night.  For more information, visit
