Black Rock’s Sportsman Division to be Unsanctioned in 2010
Rich Vleck, DUNDEE, NY (April 17, 2010)- With the regular season less than a week away, the decision has been made to make one of Black Rock Speedway’s elite divisions unsanctioned for 2010.
The Hoselton Sportsman class, featuring GM Crate Power, will enter its fourth consecutive season of weekly competition in Dundee with specifications designed to benefit the racer and add monetary bonuses to the racer on a weekly basis.
American Racer Tire and Insinger Race Fuels have stepped up the plate to offer incentives for purchasing their products from the speedway. While tire and fuel rules will be open throughout 2010, having the marketing support from these companies will help grow the sportsman division, in addition to two other classes.
“We got to a point where it was in the best interest of the division to make the sportsman unsanctioned this season,” declared BRS Owner Dean Hoag. “The support we will receive from American Racer will benefit not only the sportsman teams, but competitors in the late models and street stocks as well. Add to it that Insinger will help out with each of those divisions, plus the men’s and ladies 4-cylinders, and this partnership will return great benefits and help these divisions continue to grow.”
In the first three seasons of the Hoselton Sportsman Class, a trio of drivers have claimed a championship by seasons end. Brady Fultz (2007), Todd Henderson (2008) and Donnie Lawson (2009) are all proponents of these rule changes and intend on being BRS Regulars once again in 2010.
Insinger Race Fuels, of Dunshore, PA, will be the title sponsor of Black Rock’s Late Model Class. Dale Welty is the defending champion of the now Insinger/Sunoco Fuels Late Models.
American Racer, a division of Specialty Tires of America, is based in Indiana, PA and will be the title sponsor of the street stock division. Frank Guererri Jr. is the reigning champion of the American Racer Tire Street Stock Division.
BRS is currently in negotiations with several other race suppliers to add many more exciting products and contingency monies to this new marketing goal of bringing the best suppliers directly to the racers themselves.
The pursuit for the 2010 Points Title will begin this Friday, April 23. Racing begins at 6:45 p.m. Tires and fuel will be “open” in all divisions. Also featured on the night will be the Faster Pastor race. There is still time to sign up your local parishioner and have some fun on Friday Night.
Just a week later, action will really heat up when the ASCS Patriots kick off their season in what should be a major event presented by Abtex Corp. Three-time Patriot Champion Bryan Howland, two-time champion Chuck Hebing, 2004 BRS Champion George Suprick, JZR/TSR Pilot Jessica Zemken, locals Lance Yonge and Tim Kelly and a slew of others will invade Yates County to break the ice on a long off season.
